A lot of things can get in the way of ‘the start’. A potentially potent dare reduced to a whimper by many things. One of those ugly monsters is procrastination. The procrastination struggle is real. Procrastination results in failure without attempt. Like the old saying goes: it is a thief of time. More than a thief of time, it is the death-knell to many ideas and ventures.

“Let me just watch one more episode of ________ before I get to that email. Maybe I should wait till ______. I could be doing _____, oh well, I’ll get to it later. Maybe tomorrow.”

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the voice of procrastination. The procrastination struggle is real. Unless we’re able to push past it, progress will never be made.

A Peek Into The Procrastination Struggle

I thought I was the only one, victim of my own procrastination. “I could’ve done more, if only I didn’t spend so much time in instant gratification.” Regret is at the heels of procrastination. More often than not, we regret taking too long to do something. Rarely do we regret acting early.

Inside The Mind Of A Master Procrastinator

I came across a TED talk by Tim Urban. I thought I was unique. I thought I was the only victim of my own procrastination to that extent. Tim Urban shares something I thought was unique to me. It might as well have been me giving that talk.

Does this also describe you? Do you struggle with procrastination? Are you aware of some of the things procrastination has robbed you of?

Procrastination is not only of thief of time, but also a thief of destiny.

Now here’s a scary question:

What have you allowed procrastination to keep you from? Click To Tweet

I hope your answers inspire you and not discourage you. I hope they spur you on not slow you down. It is not too late, but it will be if you continue to procrastinate. Don’t tolerate the excuses that encourage what keeps you away from realising your dreams.

When it comes to the procrastination struggle… don’t coddle procrastination. Push past it. Don’t put your future or endeavour in the air. Act. Push past it. Don’t settle for the convenient. It is always easier not to apply ourselves. To allow things to pacify us. Procrastination will take you nowhere slowly. Don’t settle.

Dare. Start.
